Help & FAQ
Scannabis is competitive market intelligence for Montana dispensary operators and brands — pricing, assortment, menu gaps, and competitor movement across the market, refreshed nightly. The questions below cover how each part works.
Who it's for
Who is Scannabis for?
Montana cannabis operators making commercial decisions: dispensary owners, GMs, and buyers; brand owners and sales reps; and investors or consultants evaluating the Montana market. If you set prices, place buys, pitch retailers, or size up the market, Scannabis is built for you.
Is Scannabis only for dispensaries?
No. Dispensaries are the core use case, but brands use it to see shelf presence and target retailers, and market-entry teams use it to understand category structure and pricing before they invest, launch, or expand.
How can brands use Scannabis?
See where comparable products are already on shelf, understand category pricing and brand density, and build a prioritized list of retailers that carry your category but not your brand — so sales conversations start with market data instead of guesswork.
How can investors or market-entry buyers use Scannabis?
Review category-level pricing, shelf structure, and brand density across Montana, and compare cities and local market conditions — current menu data to support diligence before you buy, launch, or expand. Our market reports package this into a single read.
Your data
Where does the data come from?
We aggregate publicly available dispensary menus across Montana and normalize them so you can compare like-for-like — same categories, sizes, and a consistent pre-tax price basis.
How fresh is it?
Menus refresh nightly. Each store serves its own most-recent scrape, so a store whose menu we couldn’t reach one night still shows its last good data. If a store’s data is more than 48 hours old, its page shows a “Refreshing this store” note — so you always know how current a store is.
I found something wrong — how do I report it?
Use the report-an-issue button on any product, brand, or store page. It goes straight to our review queue. Data accuracy is the product, so flagged issues are triaged quickly — if our data isn’t trustworthy, it isn’t useful.
Why might a store be missing?
We track licensed dispensaries that publish a menu we can read. A store with no online menu, or one that just opened, may not appear yet. If you think a store is missing, let us know.
Scorecard
What is the scorecard?
Your store’s competitive position versus your local market across three things — price, assortment breadth, and brand selection — plus a “where to focus first” priority that points you at the highest-leverage move.
How is it calculated?
We compare your menu against the stores inside your competitor radius (see below), on a consistent pre-tax basis so a store that lists tax-inclusive prices isn’t unfairly ranked against one that doesn’t. Rankings are relative to your competitive set, not an absolute score.
Competitor radius
What is the competitor radius?
It defines “your local market” — the set of nearby stores you’re compared against. It drives the dashboard, scorecard, gaps, and price movers. Change it any time from the radius control in the page header (or on the map).
What does “statewide” mean?
Setting the radius to Statewide compares you against every store in Montana, rather than only those within a set distance.
Alerts
What do alerts monitor?
Pricing pressure, price-integrity signals, assortment gaps, menu competitiveness, and distribution changes — for your own stores or, for brands, your brand across the market.
How do I set them up?
On the Alerts page, choose what to watch and your thresholds. When something crosses a threshold we notify you in-app and by email (you control the frequency in alert settings).
Gaps, movers & deals
What is an assortment gap?
A brand, product, or category that stores in your market carry but your menu doesn’t — ranked by how widely it’s carried nearby, so you can see the additions most likely to matter.
What are price movers?
Recent competitor price changes — cuts and hikes — in your market, grouped into the moves that matter instead of raw menu noise.
What is the Deals board?
The advertised specials live across Montana dispensaries right now, biggest discounts first — useful for buyers and for spotting when a brand is being discounted near you.
Account & access
What can I see?
Full menus for your own (entitled) stores, plus competitive analysis of the wider market — assortment, pricing position, and recent moves. We don’t show a competitor’s raw product-by-product catalog; that mirror isn’t something we do.
How do I add a store, change my plan, or get access?
Reach out and we’ll sort it out — see the contact below. New self-service signups start pending until an admin approves them.
